Jonathan grew up in a house overflowing with music. As the son of a classical pianist and a bluegrass banjo player, he regularly gathered around the living room with his family to sing 3 and 4 part gospel music. This became some of the best ear training he could have. Picking up guitar at the age of 10, he went on to get a Bachelor's degrees in classical guitar performance and music industry studies with a concentration in recording from Appalachian State University. In 2006 he began building his resume as a sideman with Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike. Since then he has played with Young Harmony, the Dixie Bee-Liners, and the Watkins Family. In 2007, he laid the foundation of his producer portfolio with Clint Alphin's Effigy. He is an experienced audio engineer, having completely engineered 4 seasonal EP's for Larkin Poe, the dynamic sister duo formerly known as the Lovell Sisters in 2010. Today his production credits include Mountain Soul's self-titled release, and his own debut full-length project, Time, Love, and Money. Both of these projects are slated for release in 2011. Jonathan is fluent in a variety of guitar styles, expert on mandolin, and capable of teaching up to an intermediate level on resophonic guitar, bass, and banjo.
